Samba Reggae is a musical genre that involves drums, a lot of percussion and practically all musical instruments and is one of the pillars of the Cultural Music of Bahia.

It was created in the 80’s and 90’s by Antônio Luís Alves de Souza better known as Mestre Neguinho do Samba in Salvador-Bahia -Brazil and is a mix between samba de roda and Jamaican reggae, soul, funk, alujá and samba duro.

Samba Reggae with its music and dances has enchanted international musicians such as Michael Jackson, Jimmy Cliff, Paul Simon who also introduced Samba Reggae in their albums.

The Band Olodum founded by Mestre Neguinho do Samba and Ilê Ayê, Dida, Reflexus, Mel, Muzenza, Timbalada and many other Blocos Afros play Samba Reggae and many Brazilian musicians such as Gerônimo, Margareth Menezes, Carlinhos Brown, Ivete Sangalo, Saulo, Netinho, Carla Visi, Claudia Leite, Daniela Mercury still playing the rhythms of Samba Reggae.

In this Samba Reggae workshop we will present to you basic steps and some evolutions that everyone will enjoy a lot.
